The situation at Makerere University
Its Closure and Effects on Vision Activities
I understand some zaadsters and other people were informed (or got to know) that Makerere University Uganda was indefinitely closed with effect from november 12, 2006 and so some of the Vision Force activities were somehow hindered.
To follow its closure and the consequences please read on.
This is the largest institution of higher learning in Uganda, and one of the biggest in East Africa and Africa at large.
Lecturers waged a demonstration for a payrise, which has been really a protracted struggle for over 2 years; and promises to them from the Uganda government bore no fruit yet they were paid little salary.
They are the people who feed the Ugandan brains with the necessary formal knowledge-not only Ugandans by the way but also people in the outside world.
So Ugandans (former makerereans) in the diaspora, please get informed of what taking place in your country and beloved university.
LECTURERS
I strongly support their demonstration as a right. The money they were paid is really appaling!
Considering a whole lecturer, some professors with doctorates, others men and women of high integrity in their respective fields and capacities.
We need to avoid brain drain.
I believe teachers and lecturers should always be among the highly paid government personnel.
STUDENTS
In desperate need for lectures, students, who had for a week been without studying also called upon the government to respond to the lecturers' needs and solve them as soon as possible; but unfortunately government didn't look into it seriously and instead closed the institution.
I hereby appeal to all visionaries to work hard and eliminate positionary leaders.
It's high time leaders began reasoning in a visionary manner.
I also appreciate the following people for trying to promote visionary thinking in the world on zaadz.
please check their profioles on zaadz.
Michael Skye, Sam Rosen, Audrey, Deboral, Lewis and Annie, Zayra, Al, Lorraine, Ilias, and many more who would wish to contribute to what the visionary minds of Uganda are doing.
Check out on Michael's profile.
Thanks.
